Our Inspiration
Like most college students, time is super valuable to us. On the daily, we travel across campus, whether for practice, meals, classes, or now even Covid tests! Simply put, getting from place to place at Dartmouth is time-consuming and brutal. Countless times, we skipped entire meals because FoCo is too far and left class 15 minutes early to get to practices and meetings on time. The immense distance between points of interest on campus threw off our entire schedule. Late one night, we saw a football player pull up to Topliff on an electric scooter and realized that everyone should have access to fast, fun transportation.
Cue the inception of Coast Scooters. Since November, we have spent countless hours developing our business to revolutionize transportation on campus. TJ, through TuckLAB, refined the business model of Coast while Priya consulted with numerous outside vendors on our technology development and marketing strategy. We view Coast as a one-of-a-kind startup on campus that not only provides an awesome solution for all students but also fosters a culture through college friendly prices and innovative social media campaigns. Together, we truly envision a future where every member of the Big Green community will have the opportunity to use CoastScooters and join the “Coast” culture.
Even more so, getting from place to place can be time-consuming and simply put brutal. On top of all this, walking outside in the freezing cold winter for any longer than you want is the absolute worst. Whether it’s leaving your dorm 15 minutes early to get to practice on time or skipping an entire meal because FoCo is too far, the immense distance between points of interest on campus can throw off someone’s entire schedule, cause increased stress, and deter daily interactions with friends. That is where Coast comes in to save the day. A ride-sharing e-scooter fleet, Coast provides scooters around campus for fast and easily accessible transportation. Every student could subscribe to Coast on a monthly basis and find nearby scooters to use on their app. Using a monthly subscription, riders do not have to worry about daily payments, and like a buffet, will want to maximize their use of the service. However, Coast is far more than just a company. It is a culture, like Snackpass, that every student will want to be a part of. Coast around campus with our scooters and join our team.
